Was this week the longest week ever or is it just me??? So happy it’s Friday!
Been so crazy with work I don’t have time to blog BUT I did come across this funny illustration. I thought it was very appropriate for today being Super Tuesday and all.
Check out the illustrators’ other stuff too, she’s pretty funny but raunchy in some of them. We were just cracking up at a few of them now, which is what I needed after a very LONG work day which started at 7 am this morning!
I’ll try to post again soon but if I’m not around well just assuming I’m working and well more WORK! Blah! Oh and the rash is getting better. Thanks for all who asked =P

Yesterday I had the chance to go to the International Gift Fair here in NYC which is a big trade show for wholesalers to buy products and goods to sell in their stores. I went for work and got to see many beautiful items and things on display. Saw some cool things and found some good graphic inspiration, which I have yet to use in any creative way. Feeling the funk this weekend. Plus I have a rash, hives and a swollen face today. Not sure how or why but I’m looking very puffy and red. So I lounged around all day doing nothing.

We just finished the movie, Helvetica (we started Zodiac and halfway through the DVD broke…so we don’t know the ending. I hate when that happens!) which yes is about the type! Some of my designers friends were talking about it the last time I saw them and I figured I better check it out to seem “in the know”. LOL!
According to the movie description Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which celebrated its 50th birthday in 2007) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. The film is an exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type.
It was a good movie and makes you realize the use of Helvetica all around you. It’s everywhere in this city and I didn’t even realize it. I didn’t really like the typeface until recently since it wasn’t very decorative or expressive. I recently have have been using it and it is quite clean although I’m partial to Bauhaus font. The movie made me think though…that fonts are a very expressive way which to convey something about ourselves. So the next time you choose a font for your design think about how it represents you, what you are trying to convey and what you are saying with your typography.
The big game is tomorrow…hope the NY Giants can pull it off. It’s going to be a good game either way. I’ll be back to the word of the day soon. I have a bunch of things lined up just need to get the words down with the graphics.
Until then…toodles,
