Help Needed

cake-topper

I need your help blog world. I have been wanting to display our wedding cake topper (thanks to the wonderful Colette Peterson) but haven’t figured out a creative way to do so. For the past 4 years it’s been stored in a take out container, sad I know. LOL! But I really would like to display it somewhere because it really makes me smile since it’s so damn cute! It’s somewhat heavy since it’s made of clay but it has a stick in it that juts out at the bottom which could help it sit in something. My original thought was to place it in a container of some sort and place cool stones all around it to make it stay. Wasn’t too sure about that though and plus I want it to be covered so dust doesn’t get in it. So I’m really not sure how to go about doing this and thought I would seek help. Anyone have any thoughts?? Any ideas are appreciate!

Mini Book Project

boardbookplainThe other day I took a trip to Michael’s Craft Store and AC Moore with a friend. Perusing the aisle of craft supplies always puts a smile on my face. I recently have been wanting to do a mini book of some kind and came across a great blank board book that would be perfect. I haven’t really done a mini book before and I’m really apprehensive about it since I’ve seen A LOT of great books out there. I am such a perfectionist and the thought of working on a book that I feel is less then perfect scares me. But I figured this would be a good creative exercise for me to loosen up my design sense. To motivate me to actually DO THIS project I will post my progress and hopefully get your thoughts and opinions. If anything it will just get me to do something creative. Now I just need to figure out a topic. Any suggestions?

Cool Technique

holiday-happiness-LR
A few weeks ago I saw on Jennifer McGuire’s blog a technique that seemed pretty cool so I wanted to give it a try. I played around the other day with this card and gave her trick a whirl. I cuttlebugged the notecards with the Swiss Dots embossing folder, followed by some sanding. This revealed the white core of the note cards, which I then added dots of color with my makers.  For the final touch I then die cut the paper with the Stampin’ Up Top Note die for the cool shape. Love how it all came out to make a more vibrant and textured background paper.

Favorite Stamp

I’m in love with this stamp, Kissing Couple from Amuse Stamps. I used it a few weeks ago at a crop and fall in love with it. You can use it for lots of different cards and I think it’s darling. Here’s my latest and greatest creation with it.

I started out playing around with the ink background making it look like clouds and voila – came out pretty good! Oh so romantic!

Happy World Card Making Day!!

worldcardmakingdayHappy World Card Making Day!! This holiday is special for card makers around the world to celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family! Since taking a break from my blog I’ve gotten into card making and rubber stamping. It has been a great way to get back into crafts and using my hands which I missed when I was working on the computer designing. Here’s a few new cards I made the last few days.

Happy Fall!!

Happy Fall!!

I’m finally getting back to my blog after a long hiatus. I know it’s been quite awhile but some time off was needed to reevaluate some things. Feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready for Fall!! And with the start of October kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last year I had the great opportunity to collaborate with some fine digital scrapbook designers to create the Save the Tatas Breast Cancer Charity Kit. All of the proceeds went to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and I’m THRILLED to announce that this year the kit will be available again.

This kit is the same as last year but it’s still a gem of a kit to have! So if you didn’t purchase it last year you can get the kit from my store. The download instructions and links are in the Word document upon downloading your purchase since this is a HUGE kit. So make sure to read the instructions to get the kit.

And last but not least to celebrate the kick off to Breast Cancer Awareness Month I’ve put together a fun little freebie for you all. Hope you enjoy some pink sequins and hopefully we can end this deadly disease by spreading awareness.
