Dwell in Possibilities

Now available for your scrapbooking pleasure is Michelle Underwood’s newest kit, Dwell in Possibilities. Love the bright colors – so fun!

I had fun playing around with the kit with my layout documenting my 2nd cousin, Kaitlin and I reconnecting a few months ago. It always feels good to capture a special memory and be able to preserve it for the future in a scrapbook layout.

Happy Easter

Wishing everyone an eggcellent Easter holiday and hope it’s everything its cracked up to be!

The One & Only Ms. Shirley MacLaine

I’ve been a fan of Shirley MacLaine ever since I saw the movie Used People back in high school. For some reason I was taken back by her performance and charisma that I started following her career. Back then I was into doing lots research and decide to find out everything I could about her and her career. I watched many of her movies, read her books and even wrote a paper for school on reincarnation (which I just came across when I was cleaning yesterday). What high school student does that other then ME?! Highly doubtful there are many. LOL!

Anyways, I never read Time Out NY in a timely fashion but I decided to pick it up this week and I saw Shirley was doing a book reading for her new book, I’m Over All That: And Other Confessions. It must have been fate that I saw the ad in time so I had to go and I’m so glad I did!

Shirley has such a captivating charm which definitely commands her audience and fans. I was highly impressed with her amazing memory to recall detailed accounts of stories and events when asked certain questions. That really impressed me and I could have listened to her talk for hours as she was very fascinating. Besides fascinating Shirley was endearing due to her wit, her passion and her honesty. I was so nervous to get my book signed I was slightly shaky but I mustered up the courage and even asked her a question, which made the whole event even more awesome!

I haven’t had a chance to read the book yet or scrapbook this event yet as last week was crazy with a baby shower, concert, dinner with a friend and a few other things. Talk about a whirlwind but I’ll try to do both soon but wanted to share my experience with you sooner then later!

Client Show & Tell: Tickety Bu

A few weeks ago John (my husband and web design partner) and I finished up a new website – Tickety Bu for all of your bamboo luxury needs for body and home. This site turned out great and it really showcases the products well. It feels good in the end to deliver to a client a site they love and hear, “I’m very pleased I went with you guys and your solution for me, it’s pretty perfect.” So check out the site and pick up some amazingly luxurious products while you’re there!

Remembering Dixie

I can’t believe a year has gone by since the passing of Dixie Carter, my longtime childhood hero. She was a shining star when she was here and now she shines bright from above. I am glad you graced my life and I never will forget you. I miss you Dixie.

My apologies for probably breaking tons of copyright laws since this layout using many photos taken from the web that I have saved through the years.

The Martha Stewart Show

A year ago today my friends and I went to see a taping of The Martha Stewart Show and I just got around to documenting it. Even though it took a year to “scrap” this event the point is I did it. There are no time limits on scrapbooking the event in your life, sometimes I forget this and stress over it. So do whatever feels right for you and don’t feel pressured to get it all documented right away. I do however suggest journaling the details of events soon after so you don’t forget them, even if it’s just a few notes jotted down quickly.

Art Expo NYC 2011

Last weekend we had the opportunity to help my brother-in-law, Dan from Daniel Sroka Botanical Abstracts set up his art show at the International Art Expo NYC. It was a long day setting up but so worth it in the end as the booth looked amazing and really showcased Dan’s fabulous work perfectly.

While setting up for the show it gave us a behind the scene look at how the artists set up their booths and displays. We even got to see a few of our favorite artists’ work, Ed Heck and Nelson De La Nuez. When we went back on Sunday Ed Heck was there and we got to say hello to him which was an added bonus. There were several mixed media artist who had some great and inspiring work. A funny and surprising highlight of the show was the food as the ArtExpo was catered by Butterfield Market. For the 2 days we were at the show we sampled a few of their sandwiches, salads and desserts and I tell you I’m in LOVE! Their logo and branding were very inspiring as well – additional blog post to come regarding that.

In the end we had a great time and are so proud of Dan and his successes from the show. He was even chosen as a Top Ten SOLO Artist from the show. Way to go and can’t wait for the next show!
