Art Expo NYC 2011

Last weekend we had the opportunity to help my brother-in-law, Dan from Daniel Sroka Botanical Abstracts set up his art show at the International Art Expo NYC. It was a long day setting up but so worth it in the end as the booth looked amazing and really showcased Dan’s fabulous work perfectly.

While setting up for the show it gave us a behind the scene look at how the artists set up their booths and displays. We even got to see a few of our favorite artists’ work, Ed Heck and Nelson De La Nuez. When we went back on Sunday Ed Heck was there and we got to say hello to him which was an added bonus. There were several mixed media artist who had some great and inspiring work. A funny and surprising highlight of the show was the food as the ArtExpo was catered by Butterfield Market. For the 2 days we were at the show we sampled a few of their sandwiches, salads and desserts and I tell you I’m in LOVE! Their logo and branding were very inspiring as well – additional blog post to come regarding that.

In the end we had a great time and are so proud of Dan and his successes from the show. He was even chosen as a Top Ten SOLO Artist from the show. Way to go and can’t wait for the next show!

Tough (Question) Tuesday: The 100th Question Celebration!

Today I have something fun for you – Michelle Ward the When I Grow Up Coach has a super cool download in honor of her 100th Tough Question Tuesday and yours truly got to contribute a piece of art for it. The question I signed up for was, “Do you believe in passion?”. I choose this one because everything I do and create is fueled by my passion for creativity. It really spoke to me and I think we all have the key to unlocking our own passion. I even stepped out of my comfort zone to create this design too – I actually painted it with watercolors! Since I work with the computer all the time it was a nice refreshing departure to create something with my hands although I did add the other various elements in with the computer. So please stop by Michelle’s blog to say hello and download the entire high resolution Tough Question Tuesday document – lots of other fabulous artist have contributed art pieces as well. Thanks Michelle for letting me participate – you have no idea how you have helped me flourish this past year. YOU ROCK!

So, do you BELIEVE IN PASSION?

Inner Peace

I wanted to share with you today a piece of art I worked on displaying what “Inner Peace” means to me. I love how tranquil, calming and whimsical this design is. It makes me smile when I look at it and I hope you do too. What’s inner peace mean to you?

Anyways, happy Friday and have a great weekend! See you Monday for my Weekend Wrap Up!

Art Journaling

The other night I was surfing the web and came across this great, www.polyvore.com where you can make inspiration boards from images on the web. I’m not sure how it takes into account copyrighting but it’s cool nonetheless. Check out some of the boards I’ve put together. I’m trying to use this as an online creative journal project.

Speaking of art journaling, the wonderfully talented mixed-media artist, Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is having Art Journaling Week over at her blog showcasing lots of great technique s and artists. Take a peek over there for some great inspiration and be sure to check out my art journaling at Polyvore too!

Paintings

I spent a good portion of today painting while I should have been doing real stuff. I have been wanting to get some artwork for my desk area but figured I could easily paint something cool for my space. Well that was easier said then done. I’m not sure I’m loving them but they are growing on me as they sit here next to my desk. Not sure if they are going to make it on the wall but least it was a good experiement. What do we think?
