Two Peas Feature

I was excited to find out that my 5th Anniversary layout was featured on Two Peas in a Bucket blog last week. I didn’t even know until someone told me. I thought I would share the post with you! :)

Weekend Wrap Up: Apple Picking

This past weekend we went apple picking at Applewood Orchards in Warwick, NY and spent time with close friends. The weather was gorgeous although a little hot but it was nice to get out of the city for the day. Even though we went apple picking John and I were the only ones in our group not picking apples. We didn’t feel like lugging apples on the train back to the city. LOL! We did assist though and took photos to document the adventure. Afterwards we hung out and enjoyed a nice picnic. There is nothing like spending quality time with good friends laughing and having fun on a beautiful day. Later on in the afternoon we went to this local Italian fair in White Plains and enjoyed more great food and fried Oreos – YUM!

I put together a layout from this weekend and to save time I used a pre-made page (a.k.a. quickpage) from the CatScrap Blogwalk. To make it more personal to my weekend memories I added in some apple elements, journalling and another photo on the bottom. Quickpages are great starting points for layouts – just add in your photos, some text and some additional elements to make it your own.

How was your weekend – what memories did you make?

Wordless Wednesday

John & our nephew, Jackson – watch out for these rough riders!

Story of Us

In celebration of meeting my husband 8 years ago today I thought I would share my “Story of Us” book with you. I took many layouts that I have worked on over the years and complied a book showcasing our journey together. It shows memories from dating, our adventures, our wedding and everyday life together. A “Story of Us” book is a great way to capture memories from your courtship, proposal, engagement and wedding into one photo book. It’s also great because as your relationship evolves over time you can design additional “Story of Us” volumes to grow with you as well. I had a hard time narrowing down the 20 pages in this book so I see a volume 2 coming soon!

Mets Scrapbook

Click on photo for more detailed view.

I’m heading out of town for a few days but wanted to post something before I left. Last year I put together a mini scrapbook showing my journey with being a Mets fan. I rarely paper scrapbook since I’m a digi girl but I thought this project came out pretty good. I used a mini  accordion style book and decorate the front and back with photos from Mets games and Mets stickers. Sadly I think the book came out way better then the Mets last or current season!

Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll be back next week with some posts from vacation and some layouts!

Project Runway Day

In honor of the return of Project Runway tonight I decide to do a layout from the Project Runway Day from January 2010. My husband and I are both big fans of this show, so I’m very happy to say we were there for Project Runway Day.

Here’s my journalling from the layout:

On January 13, 2010 in celebration of “Project Runway’s” return to New York for its seventh season Fashion Avenue was temporarily renamed Project Runway Avenue. Tim Gunn, Nina Garcia and Michel Kors joined city officials and fashion industry representatives at a street naming ceremony in front of the iconic “Needle Threading a Button” sculpture in New York City’s Fashion District. They also presented a New York City Proclamation deeming Wednesday, January 13 as Project Runway Day, highlighting the show’s contribution to New York City’s fashion industry. Since John and I recently became huge fans of Project Runway we were excited to go check this out even despite the frigid temperature. We made sure to get there early since we didn’t know what to expect and were numb by the time the festivities started. It was well worth it to be 5 feet away from Tim Gunn! I tried to talk to him but he was being pulled in many directions for interviews. I did though get to meet Carol Hannah from Season 6 who was one of my favorite contestants. She was a sweetheart and I got my picture taken with her. Also on hand were some former contestants such as Austin Scarlett, models and current designers. All in all it was a very cool but cold experience. The only thing missing was Heidi Klum!

Hope you enjoy the show!

A Look Back at 2009

2009-highlights

2009 had lots of low points but it also had some very high points. This collage captures some of them (in no particular order).

  • My dear friend, Mary visited us from Florida. It was 4 years since we last
saw her, so it was a great treat to spend time with her.
  • Meeting my cousin, Kate who was visiting from Australia.
  • Seeing the movie, That Evening Sun and meeting the legendary actor,
Hal Holbrook. Very nice and sweet gentleman!
  • Celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary on Roosevelt Island
  • Enjoying the new Citi Field although the Mets lost (not pictured)
  • Taking many stamping classes and really enjoying creating (not pictured)
  • Meeting my craft friend Geri and having her be apart of my life (not pictured)
  • Many visits with the NJ Srokas
  • Baby Ava’s christening & party (not pictured)
  • My friend Tara’s baby shower (not pictured)
  • High school friends and kids get together (not pictured)
  • Meeting and getting to know my scrap/online friends in NYC
  • Jackson & Kayla’s birthday parties (not pictured)
  • Promoting my custom scrapbook business with Cara at Kayley’s school event

Looking forward to see what 2010 captures for me. Goals and new year’s resolution to come =)

    Brrrr!!

    me-snow-dec09

I just went for a walk around where we live and it’s pretty messy out. We got about a foot of snow in NYC and I could really just do without it. LOL!

    Where Have I Been?

I’m a bad blogger lately as usual. I have a lot to post but don’t know where to begin! I guess I will start in order.

    me-mets-glasses-frame.jpg

We went to opening day of the Mets game last Tuesday. Here’s a cool photo that John took of me with the reflection of the field in my glasses. Anyways, the game was exciting to be at the last home opener game but it was pretty cold and they lost. I did get to have the day off of work though, which was AWESOME.

Speaking of work I’m going to start looking for a new job soon I think. As I type this I wonder if “Big Brother” is watching and keeping tabs on me. I highly doubt it but if so what do they expect?! SCREW THEM is what I say! =P In hopes of a new job I picked up this cool industrial portfolio case which holds 4 x 6 photos. It’s a bit smaller then normal but wanted to do something different and maybe having smaller pieces will make my designs look better. LOL!

    port-phone.jpg

I’m super excited cause I just ordered a new cell phone and it’s GREEN!! Johnny found it online for me and I took the plunge since my old phone was well OLD! I now will hopefully have texting and maybe emailing once it comes. I’m just so excited it’s green and has a swivel keyboard to it. I’m going to be so hip…he he he.

So besides all of that…nothing spectacular to report just the usual. I’ll try to be better about blogging.

Hope all is well in cyberspace,

    Scrap & Photo

    Cutie

Here’s a layout I did of my cousin Alex from my collaborative kit,
    Action Jackson
. Love the Quick Page that Audra did for this one!

And I’ll leave you with a cool shot I took the other day while in
Brooklyn. I played around with this in Lightroom and I think it
    came out pretty cool!
