Cool Technique

holiday-happiness-LR
A few weeks ago I saw on Jennifer McGuire’s blog a technique that seemed pretty cool so I wanted to give it a try. I played around the other day with this card and gave her trick a whirl. I cuttlebugged the notecards with the Swiss Dots embossing folder, followed by some sanding. This revealed the white core of the note cards, which I then added dots of color with my makers.  For the final touch I then die cut the paper with the Stampin’ Up Top Note die for the cool shape. Love how it all came out to make a more vibrant and textured background paper.

Favorite Stamp

I’m in love with this stamp, Kissing Couple from Amuse Stamps. I used it a few weeks ago at a crop and fall in love with it. You can use it for lots of different cards and I think it’s darling. Here’s my latest and greatest creation with it.

I started out playing around with the ink background making it look like clouds and voila – came out pretty good! Oh so romantic!

Happy World Card Making Day!!

worldcardmakingdayHappy World Card Making Day!! This holiday is special for card makers around the world to celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family! Since taking a break from my blog I’ve gotten into card making and rubber stamping. It has been a great way to get back into crafts and using my hands which I missed when I was working on the computer designing. Here’s a few new cards I made the last few days.

Make N Take

Again I’m slacking on the blog postings, I know! I honestly can’t keep up with it on a regular basis. I am on Facebook and now Twitter, so I’m going to post my Twitter feeds on here as well to keep my readers up to date with stuff going on in my life. It’s just easier that way.

Since I was gone, I participated at a stamping/craft Make N Take event put on from a local stamping store, The Ink Pad. It was such a nice day and I learned so much. It’s great when they have demos and teach you lots of different techniques. Here are some of the projects I made from the day.

I think it’s inspired me to stamp more or at least want to. Now I just really need to find and make the time. I have been working on a St. Patrick’s Kit and that’s hopefully wrapping up soon. It needs to since St. Patty’s Day is Tuesday. So stay tuned =)

This, That & Then Some

I have been a bad blogger according to some of my friends….SORRY! Seems once I blog it’s either a lot or a little. Oh well I’m trying not to stress over things lately and enjoy some time off and resting here and there.

Weekend was nice with some cleaning and laundry. We watched the fireworks down by the river in NYC on Friday night. I realized I’m not that big into fireworks as I once was when I was a kid. It was raining and there were tons of stupid people all around me drinking, smoking and well just being stupid! Since we are 1 block away from the main viewing area of the fireworks it would be silly to stay home and watch on tv but next year I might think about it. LOL!

Saturday we spent the day hanging with our niece, nephew and the family in NJ. Poor Jackson has poison ivy all over his face and arms but he is taking it like a real trooper though. We had fun and watched them Saturday night. While they were asleep John and I played Wii. Love tennis and bowling but it’s tiring. My arm is still killing me. I also had the chance to play around with my stamps too. I realized why I stopped using stamps – too much cleaning is involved. I swear I spent more time cleaning off my stamps and area then I did actually stamping.

So yesterday I stubbed my toe so badly I think I may have broke it! I didn’t think it was that bad but it hurt all night and today it’s completely bruised and hard to walk on. I’m just hoping it gets better and goes away. I really don’t want to have to go to the doctor. I’m sick of the doctor!!!

On a final note special birthday shout out to my friend Kelly’s twin girls – Brianna & Corinne who turn 3 today as well as my friend, Dan!! Happy Birthday!

Inchies Galore

I took an Inchies Galore class last week at my favorite little stamp store. Apparently inchie design is the hottest thing in crafting and stamping lately, so seems I’m trendy. LOL! Anyways, it was a great inspiration which helped kick start my creative mojo for creating things with my hands. And if you are asking yourself what is an inchies…well an inchie is a 1″ square of art. You can decorate it as you wish. Stamping, embellishing and coloring in any way you want to. You can then attach it to a mini 3 x 3 canvas to make your art stand out like the one I finished at my class. Only took me 2 hours to complete a 3 x 3 work of art! LOL. It was fun =)

Had a very lovely weekend. Friday I got out of work early, had a nice lunch with the hubby and then went for a pedicure. My package from Joann’s came which totally surprised me since I never even got a confirmation email from them. Saturday I started to clean my craft closet and stash and it was like shopping in my own store! I found so much stuff I didn’t know I had and I’m super excited about it. Sunday we enjoyed a winning Mets game against the Yankees. LET’S GO METS!

Looking forward to the long weekend and trying to get through the week. Hope all is well and enjoy the week.

Back to Basic Stamping

Today I took a Back to Basic Stamping class that was given by a local rubber stamping store. I’ve always collected rubber stamps because they were cool but never really knew what to do with them. All the different inks and papers always overwhlemed me and I didn’t know what to use with what. So this class sounded perfect to go over the basic of rubber stamping. Well the class was great and now I want to stamp! We learned about dyes, inks, paper and the coolest technique – heat embossing. I came home tonight and bought online with a coupon a heating tool. LOL! I’m even thinking of taking another class this Thursday night to really apply what I learned because I know if I don’t do something with the knowledge I have I’ll forget it. Least this will put all the cool stamps I’ve been collecting over the years to good use and out of the boxes I’ve hid them in.

I’m going to try to do some more hands on crafts instead of all digital stuff. I was going through boxes this weekend and found lots of artwork I did in college and high school. So much of it was mixed media and really cool. I’m going to try to have some fun creating things and not stress over it. Well TRY is the key word.

Anyways, I’m off to bed now to get ready for Monday and the new week.
