I’m excited to share my guest blog post all about Summer memories over at the When I Grow Up Coaching blog! When Michelle mentioned she was going on vacation and needed guest bloggers I jumped at the chance right away! I didn’t have a theme or particular topic when I committed to it but I knew I would come up with something. Since it’s Summertime I’ve seeing and reading lots of people’s summer stories and it got me thinking of my own memories – how they are important to capture and document. All of our memories are important to document but there is something special and magically about summer memories.

For this blog post I worked on a new layout (using Michelle Underwood’s new kit That Was Yesterday) capturing one of my favorite summer childhood memories – spending time with my grandparents. Most summers when I was young I would spend time in the Poconos and my grandparents would come to visit. The photo in this layout if from a mini golfing outing with them. I have no clue who won the game but I know I won just by being with them!
Make sure to share a special moment from summertime in the comments section on the When I Grow Up blog by July 24th at 12p Eastern and be entered to win a custom designed scrapbook layout from me of that memory. You can also pick a different topic/theme or other special milestone as well. And if you like how that comes out feel free to do a whole book!
And for anyone reading this who doesn’t know about the fabulous, Michelle Ward aka The When I Grow Up Coach, she helps creative people devise the career they think they can’t have – or discover it to begin with! I recently started working with her to help me reach my career goals and just to kick my butt into gear overall with what and who I want to be. Michelle uses a dose of empathy, a shot of butt-kickin’, a wagon full of enthusiasm, & a crapload of inspiration to help her client’s figure out their passions, career options and the possibly out-of-the-box career ideas they might have never thought of before.
I hope you all enjoy your summer so far and are making some wonderful new summer memories.

Are you a parent who don’t know how or where to store the volumes of arts and crafts your children produce? I will design an art scrapbook for your child using photos you take of their artwork or projects (I can also scan artwork mailed to me). You can now save the memories forever without holding on to every object. It’s a great way to preserve and prevent your children’s artwork from getting lost, damaged, thrown away or creating clutter.
The process is simple – simply select the art work you want in your book and send it to me via photos by email or by mail through the USPS. I’ll take care of all the design elements and create a 20 page bound book for you to keep for many years to come. There are several sizes and printing options available so please contact me if interested to figure out what is best for you. Also think about ordering extra scrapbooks so grandparents can see their grandkids’ latest creations!

For a chance to win one of these books please stop by When I Grown Up blog to enter. If a child’s art scrapbook isn’t the right product for you feel free to use the $75 gift value towards a scrapbook of your choice.

I’m thrilled to be featured in an article on examiner.com showcasing my scrapbook work and services. Pop over there and check it out.

In celebration of Earth Day today I thought it would be fitting to announce my new “All Digital Scrapbook” option here at Tara Sroka Designs. Now you can get 5 custom designed layouts in a digital format (small low resolution 8×8 JPGs) for only $25. These creations are perfect to email to family and friends, to post to Facebook and your blog. These files can easily be shared and enjoyed by many people quickly. Digital scrapbook files help reduce the use of paper products and they also take up less space in our lives. Files will be sent via a download link and additional file designs are $5 each. Please contact me to place your order.

The past few days have been gorgeous – a huge change from the past few days. We have had some crazy and heavy rain lately on the East Coast, which got me thinking of things. On the news each night they have shown so many people forced to leave their homes due to flooding. I can’t imagine that feeling and knowing that many of your personal items like photos, mementos and things are gone forever possibly. This reminded me that it is so important to do what you can before something huge happens in life in order to preserve your memories.
Here’s some tips and ideas to help keep your keepsakes and photographs safe:
- Back up your photos on an external hard drive if possible
- Save your digital photos on photo sites like Shutterfly, Snapfish and Kodak. In case of emergency you can reprint them or re-download them for a fee.
- Have Tara Sroka Designs create a digital scrapbook. These books are saved on an external hard drive as well as saved online to ensure nothing happens to your stuff.
- Scan important documents, mementos and older photos and save to DVD or photo sites. If you can’t scan them take a photo of documents and mementos.
Another great resource for organizing tips and strategies is Miller Organizing, a professional organizing service. I recently meet up with their owner and she has endless ideas on how to organize your stuff. Be sure to check out http://millerorganizing.com/ for some inspiration when it comes to your possessions.
These all sound easy enough but making the time is the key. Some things are replaceable but some things aren’t so it’s better to be safe then sorry when it comes to your cherished memories and family treasures.
