Did you know that Valentine’s Day is the second most popular month to get engaged besides Christmas? Since Valentine’s Day is coming up my just engaged advice is to be sure to save all of your engagement cards, emails and special congratulations messages you receive after the big announcement. I saved all my cards, took photos of flowers I received and even kept a deflated balloon my friend sent. I have everything stored in a nice decorative box along with all of my wedding cards. I would love to scan the front of each card as well as the message inside to make a scrapbook. Another fun idea is to make a photo collage from all the cards and well wishes. Besides engagement memorabilia be sure to save other items like receipts, appointment cards and various other items you will collect once you start planning your wedding. Just whatever you do make sure to save everything and later on you can figure out what to do with it all – like me, 5 years later after my wedding! Do you have a unique idea on how to save your engagement or wedding memorabilia? If so, I would love to hear from you!
Welcome to Wedding Week, my special week long blog celebration about all things wedding! I realized after I did my special Maternity Matters and All About Baby blog events that I really should have done the weddings topic first. Since babies lately are on my brain (3 of my close friends are due soon) I didn’t even think to do it in that order. Plus my wedding was so many years ago now that I had became out of habit of thinking about it (although I miss planning it). Anyways, what is Wedding Week you ask? Well I am a scrapbook enthusiast who wants to share some fun and exciting ideas on how to document your wedding journey from start to end. Along the way I hope to inspire you to think more about wedding photography, photo ideas, fun props, special guests, wedding trends, colors, fabulous ideas for your reception that incorporate your photos and memories and lots lots more. I hope you will check back in over the course of this week and say “I Do” to Wedding Week.
I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my 5 Year Diary book by Tamara Shopsin. I know I’m slightly late as we are a almost month into 2011 but I can catch up! I recently saw it posted on Michelle Ward‘s blog and thought it was a great idea. I keep track of my daily events with iCal but I have been wanting to document everything in a journal or book, so later on it’s easier to go through and this diary is perfect! This pint-sized 5 Year Diary helps you keep track of the next 60 months of your life in just a few lines a day. Each page of the diary is devoted to one day of the year and subdivided into five sections (each with its own space for notes), so that, as time goes by, past entries can be read as the new ones are written. The great thing about this diary is it can be started on any day of any year – even a leap year. In the back of the diary there are pages to record the books you’ve read and places you’ve traveled. Can’t wait to get it and I’ll keep you posted on how it goes with keeping up with it.
Wanted to share with you some of the designs I worked on for my friend Kali’s
baby shower recently. Everything came out pretty good if I do say so myself 🙂
I’ve been busy designing new Valentine’s Day products for Pink Ink Studios. Tell the ones you love this V-day how WILD you are for them! More fun designs coming soon to the store, so check back often.
This blog post is WAY over due but here it is! As you can see Tara Sroka Designs is going through a brand redesign, which I hope you like as much as I do. The past few months I’ve been really loving the retro old school designs I’ve been seeing all around. I felt it was fitting to update my graphics at the same time I am refocusing my services.
Last year I really focused on offering custom designed scrapbooks and was a huge advocate of documenting your memories. I love scrapbooking and plan to continue with the custom scrapbooking service upon request but I am shifting my design gears to offer more design services. Services will include marketing & branding for small business, blog/website/e-commerce/social media design services, resources for photographers and cards & invitations.
Now you might be thinking, “You did all those things before anyways, so what’s different?” Well, yes I did but I never really marketed myself as doing all of things but now is the time! I love scrapbooking and really enjoy doing it but feel I can do more for people in regards to other services. I don’t want to limit myself as a designer.
I will continue to blog about scrapbooking but along the way you’ll see more design inspiration, products for photographers and more examples of my design work from all mediums. More or less you won’t notice that much changing with my blog content, as I’ve always been true to myself on here.
So I currently am taking on clients/projects for April on. I am working on a price list for basic services but since I specialize in custom designs/services most projects will be estimated on a project to project basis, so contact me for a quote. I will be adding to the contact form soon a more detailed question area to get a better idea of your projects.
Please be patient while I redo my website. I want to make sure to do it right, so it will take some time. My main focus is jumping into client work and projects, so the site will eventually get done.
Speaking of rebranding, all of us at Pink Ink Studios just revamped everything and it’s looking awesome! The site has been redone and we’re working hard on revising products and adding awesome products for photographers! I’m really loving the new look over there as well as mine. It feels good to start over with the start of a new year! If you are a photographer and are interested in having custom designs done please contact me. I can help you with cards, marketing/branding materials, logos and any web needs.
In the meantime, I am super excited to bring you Wedding Week coming Jannuary 31-February 4. I am working hard on gathering lots of fun eye candy, resources and fabulous wedding inspiration. I hope you will join me and stay along for the ride as I reinvent myself.
Here’s to a fabulous 2011!
My latest digital layout features Michelle Underwood’s new kit called, So Preppy. Love these fun photos of me with my parents taking in a photo booth. I want to do more layouts of my family and childhood. I think this is a pretty cute and good start!
I recently documented my 33rd birthday with the new Michelle Underwood kit, Vintage Colors available at Two Peas In A Bucket. I even scanned some items in to make it more personal and to tell the story better. I love the card from my nephew Jackson – it cracks me up every time I see it.
Since Maternity Matters Week was so fun I am happy to announce I am planning Wedding Week on the blog. Keep an eye out the first week of February for all things wedding related! I’ll be back soon with lots of updates and information on 2011 business goals and plans.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
