I wanted to let you know that I’m making some changes here at TSD and starting today I am cutting back on the freelance design projects I take on. Don’t worry as I’ll still be taking on new clients and creative projects but on a limited basis. So the reason I am cutting back is that I’m going back to work full time for a great ad agency. I’m super excited about the new opportunity and can’t wait to jump in.
I also will be continuing at Pink Ink Studios as well so stay tuned for new products in the next few weeks! Anyways, please continue to contact me for your design quotes for your projects and if the timing works out for both of us then great!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, aunts, grandmothers, godmothers and moms to be out there today. Enjoy the day!
Happy International Scrapbooking Day! To celebrate scrapbooking today I figured I would work on some layouts and share with you how I got started scrapbooking.
Although I think I’ve been scrapbooking all my life I “officially” I started out paper scrapbooking in 2004 not really thinking about documenting my life but more for the creative fun of it. I mostly just bought the cute supplies and never did anything with them. The idea of having to sort through photos, cut things up and assemble an album scared me. I’m a crafty person but I would dread doing a scrapbook page. I remember doing a page once where it took me hours to get everything “just perfect” and when I was done someone pointed out that I had a typo in my journalling that was pretty obvious. I seriously wanted to cry since I had spent so many hours working on that one memory. After that I didn’t think I would ever do another page BUT then I found digital scrapbooking (in 2006 I think) and the rest was history!
I love the creative outlet digital scrapbooking (a.k.a digi scrap) provides and the fact that my friends and family will have these amazing books and creations to look at generation after generation. Scrapbooking gives me the freedom to have fun, do what I want to do and express myself in a way I feel is comfortable to me. I’ve come along way since the early days and I take pride in my designs and scrappy style. Digital scrapbooking isn’t for everyone but it works for me and that’s all that matters.
I always love seeing what my customers and clients do with the card templates I design. Sam from Settle Photography was kind enough to send over a final invitation that I designed for him and his client. Seeing the great photos in the design makes it feel so complete and makes me smile.

Now available for your scrapbooking pleasure is Michelle Underwood’s newest kit, Dwell in Possibilities. Love the bright colors – so fun!
I had fun playing around with the kit with my layout documenting my 2nd cousin, Kaitlin and I reconnecting a few months ago. It always feels good to capture a special memory and be able to preserve it for the future in a scrapbook layout.
Wishing everyone an eggcellent Easter holiday and hope it’s everything its cracked up to be!
I’ve been a fan of Shirley MacLaine ever since I saw the movie Used People back in high school. For some reason I was taken back by her performance and charisma that I started following her career. Back then I was into doing lots research and decide to find out everything I could about her and her career. I watched many of her movies, read her books and even wrote a paper for school on reincarnation (which I just came across when I was cleaning yesterday). What high school student does that other then ME?! Highly doubtful there are many. LOL!
Anyways, I never read Time Out NY in a timely fashion but I decided to pick it up this week and I saw Shirley was doing a book reading for her new book, I’m Over All That: And Other Confessions. It must have been fate that I saw the ad in time so I had to go and I’m so glad I did!
Shirley has such a captivating charm which definitely commands her audience and fans. I was highly impressed with her amazing memory to recall detailed accounts of stories and events when asked certain questions. That really impressed me and I could have listened to her talk for hours as she was very fascinating. Besides fascinating Shirley was endearing due to her wit, her passion and her honesty. I was so nervous to get my book signed I was slightly shaky but I mustered up the courage and even asked her a question, which made the whole event even more awesome!
I haven’t had a chance to read the book yet or scrapbook this event yet as last week was crazy with a baby shower, concert, dinner with a friend and a few other things. Talk about a whirlwind but I’ll try to do both soon but wanted to share my experience with you sooner then later!
A few weeks ago John (my husband and web design partner) and I finished up a new website – Tickety Bu for all of your bamboo luxury needs for body and home. This site turned out great and it really showcases the products well. It feels good in the end to deliver to a client a site they love and hear, “I’m very pleased I went with you guys and your solution for me, it’s pretty perfect.” So check out the site and pick up some amazingly luxurious products while you’re there!
Last weekend I attended the Getting Gorgeous event in NYC, where social media savvy women came together to “get gorgeous”. There were many giveaways, prizes (I won a gift card from BJs – woo hoo), yummy cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes, mini makeovers and many hair stylists on hand to spruce up everyone’s hair. It’s always good day when you get to see fellow blogger friends, meet people from great companies and celebrate being gorgeous both inside and out. And free swag doesn’t hurt either!
DegreeWomen was this year’s sponsor and the participating vendors/sponsors were: Sarah Potempa (such a sweet lady), Dream Water (works pretty well), Goody Hair, Shopafrolic, BJs Wholesale, Tide to Go, Simply Orange Juice, Flip Out Sandals, Lifetime Moms, Weight Watchers, Hair Room Service, Georgetown Cupcakes (YUM!), Sandals Resorts, Belli, Hanes, Bump It Up and Miraclebody.
Just a side note about the cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes – SO GOOD! The one I had was Mint Chocolate chip which is my ultimate favorite and I seriously could have ate like 3 of them! Also the food from Moe’s Southwest Grill that BJ’s is now selling was a great treat too – that guacamole hummus was awesome!!
I plan on trying out a few of the freebies I received and report back to you with reviews and information, so stay tuned. But the best part I wanted to share with you is that some of the brands are offering discounts to TSD readers to help you look even more gorgeous for your scrapbook photos . Enjoy!
I was not paid for this post but all Getting Gorgeous attendees received a gift bag with complimentary products for review. No other compensation was provided, and all opinions expressed herein are my own. Special thanks to Audrey McClelland and Vera Sweeney for putting together such a wonderful event!
